Nano stifles Justice

Chief Prosecutor Rakipi submits his resignation. Coga: Our hands are tied. Pëllumbi; Nano should leave. Malaj: Bleta a victim of the PS OSTRICH POLITICS Betrisha: We will use FORCE On page 3 TIRANE Expulsion, it takes time. Expulsion, but not dismissal. Prime Minister Fatos Nano used those two words yesterday at the meeting of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, when Chief Prosecutor Arben Rakipi was discussed. Rakipi himself, after stating on Monday that he had offered his resignation, sent the document for leaving the post of chief prosecutor to parliament yesterday officially. The uproar in the PS over this issue was greater than the news of Rakipi's departure itself. MP Spartak Coka openly declared that the chief prosecutor's resignation is the best sign of the Nano government's failure to establish order and justice. He said that the Minister of Order, Perikli Teta [?], and the Speaker of Parliament, Skënder Gjinushi [?], are tying the hands of the police and the prosecutor's office. Further on, MP Arben Malaj said that Bleta is a victim of the PS. At the height of the debate, Sali Berisha declared that the opposition would use force to bring down the government. On page 3

OSTRICH POLITICS

FATOS LUBONJA P[?] ... Today, each side of Albanian politics tries to build its own identity by smearing its opponent, while truth and the public interest are pushed aside. Instead of reflecting on the crisis of the state and of the law, the sides choose the logic of confrontation, producing only more distrust. Under these conditions, politics behaves like an ostrich: it hides its head so as not to see reality, but the body remains exposed to danger. This metaphor explains the behavior of the main actors of the Albanian transition, who continue to feed the conflict instead of building institutions. Skrifter 4

Shkëlqim Muça and Hasan Lika on the bench, the national team's successes and the growing appreciation for several Albanian players have brought an unusual atmosphere of enthusiasm. At the center of attention is Shulku, who is seen as a symbol of a dignified Albanian performance on the international stage. The greetings from Blater and Johanson's attention from the stands are seen as signs of this recognition.
