The killing took place at 21:20, when Hajdari was descending the stairs of the PD headquarters in central Tirana. According to testimonies and sources from the scene, the Democratic deputy was hit by a burst of automatic fire from unknown persons, who had been waiting for him in a dark-colored “Benz” car. Together with Hajdari, his bodyguard was also killed, while other people were wounded. Party leaders and militants gathered at the scene, describing the event as a tragic act and demanding that it be fully clarified. Sources from the PD stated that the perpetrators fled with three cars bearing Vlora license plates and left the murder weapons in the street.
