This is the first piece of evidence, now considered essential, in the killing of the RTSH director, Enver Maloku. Yesterday, the police questioned two people suspected of having a role in Wednesday’s midday attack. There is a view that the Socialists are involved in the killing of a personality over which the international opinion reacted immediately. In fact, yesterday the Presidency of the Republic, before meeting urgently at 12:00, asked the Minister of Public Order and the Prime Minister to report to the head of state. A few hours later, the head of state sent an urgent message to the government to “avoid” an escalation of tensions in Kosovo. Witnesses to the घटना stated that the people who shot at Maloku were moving in a car with Tirana license plates. In connection with this, the police also questioned two people from Fushë-Kruja, who testified that on the day of the attack two men had rented a taxi and left for the capital.
The police were also at the center of criticism yesterday. President Meidani, at the emergency meeting, is said to have made remarks about the work of the public order ministry. Sources close to the Presidency said that the head of state expressed concern about the situation and the climate of insecurity. On the other hand, Prime Minister Nano described the act as a serious political assassination and demanded the immediate identification of the perpetrators. In the evening, law-enforcement forces carried out several checks at the entrances and exits of Tirana and at several other points in the country.
The Presidency describes the event as extremely serious and appeals for calm. Political sources said that contacts are also expected with international actors regarding the situation in Kosovo and the effects that this killing could have. The newspaper learns that during yesterday there were also other people questioned, while the investigation is focusing on the victim’s movements in the last 24 hours. According to the same sources, the police are also verifying a suspicious vehicle seen near the scene moments before the attack.
