Fatos Nano Meritocracy is not whoreocracy, and it seems to me that it is unfair to characterize as such the work of hundreds of thousands of Albanians, members of the Socialist Party or not. Meritocracy means putting the state above the party, whereas whoreocracy means putting the party above the state. Such experiments were conducted for 55 years at the expense of all Albanians, when the state was brought down under the motto “The Party above everything” and with “PD wins everyone.” No party interest or desire can be placed above the universal task of building the state, governing, and ensuring the harmonious functioning of legal institutions. If we came to power to give jobs to Socialists, then let me say definitively that we do not need this power. If we continue with such mindsets, for our own good and for the good of the entire nation, we must lay down this burden before it is too late. At the same time, however, many theses must not remain at the level of debate for debate’s sake, nor should they change the heart of the problem: unleashing governing abilities to build democratic institutions and a genuine civil society. The debate, which certainly stirs emotions and gives rise to and affects the parties, their members and their forums, should, I think, be conducted today at another, more rational and political level. It is no coincidence that today governance acutely needs the Socialist Party, new ideas and its qualified people. It seems to me that at this stage we have entered, it is essential that we jointly lay out ever more creative new alternatives that match the country’s needs and not old interests. In other words, we should compete with plans and ideas that create jobs, raise wages and pensions, lower prices, eradicate crime and pyramid schemes, attract investors, make the sale of public property transparent, regulate relations between the law and the media, give space to young people’s education, etc. If we do not compete with these projects, there is no democratic alternative for improving the quality of life that meets the country’s needs ... There is no longer even a left. The party that presented the country as a beast alongside its allies is lying on the ground. The victory in the last elections will mark, at this point, an important change in time, but much remains to be done and it is indivisible. Now most of the constitution is supposed to have been made for the “socialist left.” Is that how it was made? Many have formed this belief as they learned yesterday of the decisions of the PS leadership, which will choose a government with a new face. Who are the “party” and the left’s people who will coordinate things? Nano, Majko and the other leaders? People, no doubt. For it to have a future, it is the group around Nano that has secured the vote of confidence and still believes in him. This also follows from the fact that this group trusts him. The Prime Minister is the most loyal and trustworthy person to relieve him of the heavy burden that they have taken on their shoulders together. Everyone is ... for their leader’s absolute power, and fig. is on the road that Nano ... also with some group and advisers and ..., the grouping that tries ... It cements a decline, a politics within which the role of the Socialists. The intellectual government, figures with ... qualities and who have never taken the composition of Enverism seriously, this ... politics is ... in finding a plan, as well as Albanian in politics. The right-wing party, otherwise called the party of the helmets, is ... that comes closer to the socialist middle-class electorate. With Agolli, Pellumbi and several other staunch Socialists as its representatives, this grouping seeks to gain ground among the large army of socialist “helmets,” but also among the poorest segment of the new electorate, by attacking precisely the weak point of the first party: its elitism and its tendency to break away from those who kept it going against Berisha, who were dragged away by Gazidede and, in the end, gave their vote to all the groupings in the PS. But the most interesting phenomenon to emerge within this socialist movement about a year ago is this Fino–Malaj cell. I say cell because they have not yet managed to win and establish themselves in a governing base of support that would turn them into a party, like the first groupings. Nevertheless, the Fino–Malaj faction and their supporters below have been invited to gain ground, particularly in some areas of the socialist south. To be taken over in terms of money, but also of positions, this grouping has gathered around it logisticians, financiers, businesspeople, and another group of supporters who move between Nano’s camp, when they want to put an end to his separation, and the camp of the second party, when they seek to win the war as Anten.

Spahia disappoints Spartak Ngjela TIRANË — Berisha legally splits the party at their 14th Congress. “Many of the delegates realized they were Makedhbi’s guests,” Berisha said yesterday at a press conference with the new Dhurllari. According to legal sources, it was enough that Berisha himself had been Makedhbi, manipulating all the delegates’ meetings, to defeat his two main challengers. The leader of the PD used every method to prevent Spartak Ngjela and Murat Basha from taking the helm of the PLL. The new chairman of the legislature is now Ekrem Spahia, the former deputy chairman of the PLL, described by legal sources as an acquaintance of Berisha. One of the candidates for PLL chairman was also Sadedin Balla, a member of the PD National Council, who entered the race for the senior post at the last moment. Sources from the Congress specify that most of the legal delegates were manipulated at the last moment, on the day the Congress was held, and rejected the candidacies of Ngjela and Basha, the two men who threatened Berisha’s ability to maintain the alliance with the PLL. TIRANË — Six women convicted of murder are serving their sentences in Prison 325. Most of them took their husbands’ lives for a variety of reasons and under a variety of circumstances. Now, having left their painful ordeal behind, they feel at ease behind the prison’s barbed-wire fences, among people who are no different from them. Only four of them have returned to their cells from a million [unclear] blue widows, while the others have felt the fear of revenge and the indifference of their loved ones and the prison families. Together they have created a society that brings them together through the absence of men.
