On Saturday, in Rambouillet, near Paris, the countries of the Contact Group (Germany, France, Britain, Italy, Russia, USA) will present Belgrade and the Albanians with a provisional plan which, among other things, envisages maximum autonomy for Kosovo. The Kosovo Liberation Army, President Ibrahim Rugova and Academician Rexhep Qosja have now given their consent to go to Rambouillet. This unison among three of Kosovo’s main political forces has “been accompanied by Albania’s unified stance, opposition - opposition.” It is the unity dreamed of and long awaited at one of the decisive moments for the country. The fate of the Rambouillet meeting depends on the decision the Parliament in Belgrade will make today. No precise prediction can be made about its nature. On page 4

The Albanian Prime Minister holds secret talks with the CIA chief Clinton receives Majko this morning. Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon the Albanian Prime Minister was a guest at CIA headquarters, where he met the director, Xhorxh Tenet. The most important meeting of the day yesterday for Pandeli Majko was the one with the head of the CIA, Tenet, originally from Himara. Official information sources have given no details about the conversation between the two “Albanians”—indeed, the meeting was not even mentioned in the press statements of the Ministry of Information.
