Opinion Aleksandër MEKSI The communist regime survived for half a century in Albania because foreigners were divided into blocs or were uninterested in Albania and the fate of the Albanians (perhaps interested in our non-friends), or left it to the communist foreigners to deal with. With the beginning of the processes of “perestroika” and “glasnost,” the result of the Soviet Union's self-awareness of the failure of communism, and especially with the fall of the Berlin Wall, our region—and therefore Albania too (more as a consequence)—was finally included in the West's sphere of political and economic interests. He worked as a money changer with his father-in-law's money On Sunday, at the same place, Tan Oqe's brother was also executed A 130-million-lekë robbery in Tirana. A police officer was struck on the head with crowbars by two unmasked men on Sunday morning as he was transporting a bag containing millions belonging to his father-in-law, a money changer. After seizing the enormous sum, the robbers disappeared, while their victim managed to survive the wound he had suffered. They carried out the biggest robbery ever to take place without using any weapons and without putting anyone's life at any risk. On page 7
