In an interview given to ABC News, Panariti appealed to his Greek counterpart not to fall prey to nationalist rhetoric, which, according to him, takes precedence “especially when a state is in a difficult situation, as is happening with Greece.” “It seems naive to me because no one believes that Albania has had or has territorial claims. The unnecessary burden of these statements, with presumed claims, is completely outside any normal logic. But I am not in a position to control the reaction of the Greek side,” Panariti stated.
