By VALENTINA MADANI The government is convinced that it respected the law in the case of ambassadorial appointments around the world, dismissing the President’s accusations that it has gone too far in appointing political ambassadors. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto, in a statement yesterday for “Gazeta Shqiptare,” declared that every proposal for ambassador of the Republic of Albania has been subject to legal procedures and that there is no room for speculation in any case. “In the case of appointments, we have applied the law. It is not the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that sends the candidacies to the President. The MFA proposes them to the Prime Minister, who forwards the candidacies to the President, while the candidacy is approved by the parliamentary foreign committee. So we are talking about candidacies that have gone through all these stages according to the law. This procedure is clearly written in the law,” Mr. Haxhinasto declared.
