The fate of Dritan Prifti will be decided after the Supreme Court delivers its verdict on former deputy prime minister Ilir Meta, who faces possible prison and a fine for active corruption. The General Prosecutor’s Office, which for months has been investigating former Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy Prifti as well as the former number two of the ministry, Leonard Beqiraj, decided to sign off on extending the investigation by another month. The news is confirmed by official sources close to the central prosecution institution, according to whom prosecutors Bujar Sheshi and Anila Leka informed the lawyers of Prifti and Beqiraj of the decision to extend the investigation deadline. During this time, the prosecution is expected to carry out several other investigative actions and then decide whether to charge the two former METE officials, or drop the case.
