Before making a statement, Arvizu should have obtained information from the CEC” By VALENTINA MADANI The head of the CEC, Arben Ristani, explains the procedures and legal deadlines required by the response of the institution he leads regarding the waste referendum issue. In this interview for “Gazeta Shqiptare”, Mr. Ristani says that the CEC is within the legal deadlines and notes that there were forgeries in the signatures handed over by the initiative group. The head of the country’s top electoral institution states that it is not the CEC that decides on the referendum, but the Constitutional Court that makes the final ruling. Regarding Ambassador Aleksandër Arvizu’s statement that the CEC is blocking the response on the referendum, Mr. Ristani values cooperation with the US Embassy, but expresses regret because, according to him, no information was requested on this issue.
