Edi Rama: The consequences of unemployment By LORENC RABETA Based on the preliminary data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census, published yesterday by the Institute of Statistics, Albania’s population is currently 2,831,741 inhabitants. It is noted that the population in 2011 has decreased by 7.7% over these ten years. Meanwhile, the population from the 2001 census was 3,069,275. According to the Institute, the main causes of the population decline are presumed to be large-scale emigration and falling birth rates.
