By VALENTINA MADANI The government is convinced that it has respected the law in the case of the appointments of ambassadors around the world, rejecting the President’s accusations that political ambassadors have been overused. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto, in a statement yesterday to “Gazeta Shqiptare”, said that every proposal for ambassador of the Republic of Albania has been subjected to legal procedures and that there is no room for speculation in any case. “In the appointments we have applied the law. It is not the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that sends the candidacies to the President. The MFA proposes them to the Prime Minister, who sends the candidacies to the President, while the candidacy is approved by the parliamentary foreign affairs committee. So we are talking about candidacies that have passed through all these stages according to the law. This procedure is clearly written in the law,” said Mr. Haxhinasto.
