The superior is stripped of the right to dismiss employees; from now on, that competence belongs only to the Disciplinary Commission While every change of government is traditionally accompanied by mass dismissals and recruitments in the state administration, the newly approved law by parliament on the status of the civil servant seems at least to be able to soften the phenomenon. The law on the “Civil Servant”, approved last week by the Assembly after a long wait, sets out more stringent rules in every aspect of the activity of civil servants in the administration, especially regarding the dismissal and recruitment of employees. The legislation, which will very soon enter into force, establishes new rules ranging from the manner of hiring or dismissing civil servants, to their political affiliation, their approach to conflicts of interest, as well as strengthening the role of the Civil Service Commission. “Any appointment to a position ...” On pages 6-7
