With a trembling voice, under threat of violence, F. Xh., 23, who was being held hostage in the bathroom of a bar in Tirana, called his father and asked him to pay off his debt to his friends; otherwise, he risked being killed. The shocking phone call forced the young man’s father to borrow money from relatives in order to answer the wrongdoers, and just as he was about to hand over the money, the police intervened and arrested them. The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office has now completed its investigation, submitting to the court the criminal file against the accused, A. Kolpepaj, M. Kshtenjari and B. Vata, charged with “self-help” and “unlawful deprivation of liberty”, carried out by force and in cooperation. Continues on page 8
