By VALENTINA MADANI The ballots with which PD members voted for the new PD leader in the 22 July elections will not be burned. They may be archived at the central headquarters of the Democratic Party. The chair of the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, Gjergj Lezja, confirmed yesterday to “Gazeta Shqiptare” that the ballots will not be burned and that they are currently at the party headquarters. “The commission has already completed the process, everything is closed and the ballots have not been burned. They are with the party,” Lezja stated. Late on the evening of 22 July, in the lobby of the Palace of Congresses, the members of the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, or as they are otherwise known, the “KQZ” (a structure set up within PD), received the first ballot boxes for the new PD leader, and then began counting right there. 100 ballot boxes were distributed across the districts, while the counting was done in Tirana.
