In the beach area near Hekurudha, a currency exchanger was shot dead with an automatic weapon by two robbers, who took the amount of 25 million old lek. According to official sources from the Durrës County Police Directorate, Fatmir Kotarja, 46, was returning home together with his brother, both currency exchangers, when two masked and armed men ambushed them and demanded the money. When the 46-year-old refused to hand over the money, he was shot in the leg with an automatic weapon by one of the robbers. The robbers then fled the scene on a motorcycle. It was the victim’s brother who called the ambulance and the police. The 46-year-old died on the way to the hospital.
