Savings of 120 thousand new lek By OLA MITRE Self-employed workers in rural areas can save up to 120 thousand lek from the waiver of late-payment penalties on social insurance contributions, which are valid for buying 21 years and three months of insurance period for old-age pension. The information is made public by the Deputy Director of the Social Insurance Institute, Astrit Hado, who, in a statement given to “Gazeta Shqiptare”, among other things also clarifies the amount of late-payment penalties for farmers in mountainous and lowland areas. “The late-payment penalties for the entire period (from 1993-2014) for the lowland area are 120,800 lek; for the mountainous area 80,000 lek. This means that all farmers who benefit from the waiver, which is in force until 31 December 2014, will not pay this amount. Self-employed workers in agriculture will only have to pay the amount of the social insurance contributions for the period they desire,” Hado said. On page 11
