The next victim of mafia-style attacks is 40-year-old Baki Xhabafti, a person with a criminal record. The serious incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. in the center of Vorë, in front of the municipality, when the “Renault” vehicle with license plate AA 154 AZ exploded and as a result the 40-year-old Xhabafti lost his life. Sources from the police said that the 500 grams of C4 explosive were detonated remotely by means of a mobile phone device. The victim Xhabafti, a first cousin of Shkëlqim (Çim) Xhabafti, known as the tough man of Selita (killed in 1998), is not unknown to the police, as he is suspected of involvement in serious crimes. The lines of investigation being pursued by the prosecutor’s office are numerous, ranging from an execution over a blood feud, a breakdown in a trafficking deal, to a killing over property disputes.
