Vasili against it: I consider the study nonexistent By DARINA TANUSHI The High Inspectorate for the Declaration and Audit of Assets has recently discovered that state officials have kept around 50 to 60 million euros in cash, undeclared and not deposited in banks. This was made public yesterday in the parliamentary Committee on Laws by chief inspector Shkëlqim Ganaj, as the amendments to the law on HIDAA were being discussed. Under the proposed changes, newly appointed officials may not hold more than 1.5 million lek in cash. All assets must be documented in a bank. The committee chair was opposed yesterday by LSI and MPs Mark Frroku and Nard Ndoka. “Recently appointed officials declare cash amounts of 200,000-300,000 euros in order to convert them at a later time. As if they had had them in cash and to complete the process. To prevent this phenomenon, we established the obligation that, when they declare them for the first time, they must deposit them in a bank.... Continues on page 5
