Despite their alibis, both Çollaku and his six former subordinates lost the battle for freedom at the Court of Appeal, which decided to keep them all in prison. Petrit Ramohitaj, former head of the Cash Office in the Issuance department, told the appeals court yesterday that they had no regulation available to them on how they were supposed to act while carrying out their duties. Both in the Cash Office and in the Stock Cash Office, from which the main suspect Ardian Bitraj embezzled the amount of 713 million lek, at least that much has been officially declared so far, the head of each cash office together with two specialists had to enter and leave the room where the banknotes were kept at the same time.
