Yesterday, the Speaker of Parliament, Ilir Meta, commented on the country’s political situation, the opposition’s absence from Parliament, and the November 22 protest during the program “Studio e Hapur” on “News24”, hosted by journalist Eni Vasili, considering it a positive sign of democracy functioning in the country. Regarding the government’s recent actions, Meta stressed that there will be no turning back in the enforcement of the law.
The opposition held one of the largest rallies in terms of turnout on the main boulevard. Did the large participation of citizens in this protest worry you?
Not at all. We should have been worried if there had been no participation or only limited participation, because that would have shown that everything here is going perfectly, something difficult to accept in any democracy, no matter how developed it may be, or that people here are afraid to come out and protest...
