Yesterday the government approved changes to the salaries of police employees, the effects of which will apply retroactively from 1 January 2014. According to the clarification given by the Ministry of the Interior, salaries were increased by percentage, while some salaries were reduced because the “difficulty rate” was applied, meaning that a police officer with the rank of “Chief Commissioner” working in the field has a much higher salary increase coefficient than a police officer with the same rank working in an office. The biggest increase was made for the lower levels, which are generally field officers. Meanwhile, for the entire table, the percentage benefit from the application of the progressive tax was not used, which is much higher for lower salaries. (For example, if the salary of the inspector rank was increased by 21%, with the application of the progressive tax, the real salary increase goes above 25%).
