SHKODËR — Last week, a meeting of the “Property with Justice” association was held at the «Migjeni» Theatre in the city of Shkodër, where the draft law on the restitution of property was discussed. Among the many contributions, that of the association’s chairman, Mr. Rrapo Danushi, stood out. He accused Deputy Prime Minister Rexhep Uka of being a neo-communist and Pjetër Arbnori of betraying the ideals of democracy and opposing the restitution of property, despite having himself received the 38 napoleons in the Tirana court. Meanwhile, Mr. Anton Syku, secretary of the Albanian-American association based in New York, said that properties should be returned to their rightful owners and accused Pjetër Arbnori and Sali Berisha. Mr. Syku donated 3,000 dollars to the association so that it could continue its activities.

TIRANË — As some of our colleagues at RD have also informed us, four days ago the young journalist Dylejman Karaj was mistreated by the police. Dylejman, who has been working for six months at the newspaper of the party in power, experienced police officers’ blows on his own back. For now, we have no more detailed information about the reasons that led to Dylejman’s beating. We know only that the incident was the subject of a morning meeting at RD.

TIRANË. — According to a source of ours who attended the dinner held in honor of the Turkish President at the Palace of Brigades, it was noticed during the ceremony that the bust of Skënderbeu had been removed. We have seen it there on television at all the receptions organized by President Berisha. It is astonishing that, for Ozal’s sake, the bust of the National Hero was removed from the dais, simply to fla— 500 years ago. We do not know whether the bust was removed at the request of Ozal and the entourage accompanying him, or whether our own officials removed it on their own initiative. It is a great stroke of luck that it did not occur to our officials to temporarily remove, until Ozal had left Albania, even the monument to Skënderbeu in Tirana’s main square.

Recently, several newspapers published many articles against the Socialist Party deputy, Mr. Dritëro Agolli. Until now, the latter has refused to respond publicly to the articles directed at him.
