Where should we stand this time: with America or the Islamic Conference? Once again this question was raised today—or rather this afternoon. Because it was precisely yesterday that our pages carried a report according to which the Islamic Conference, of which Albania is a member, had asked the United Nations to lift the arms embargo against the others in Bosnia. Let us briefly analyze exactly what this request means: First, it means opening the way for an armed operation in Bosnia, with the aim of defending oneself or attacking the Serbs, or others as well, because a weapon is a weapon, and a weapon in itself has no reason. In other words, according to this request, if there is a massacre in Bosnia today, we must create another massacre as well! Who has an interest in massacres, regardless of the name and aim they may have? No one, and above all, never the human being. So if we were to follow the Islamic Conference’s request to open the gates wide for weapons to flow into Bosnia without customs controls, this would open the way to a lack of oversight and another injustice between states and people. In addition, the Islamic Conference’s request to lift the arms embargo against Bosnia carries an emphasis on Islamic religious partisanship. The fact that Turkey and Pakistan have reportedly declared that they are ready to send ammunition and weapons to Bosnia (of course, without informing and asking us) is very troubling.
