Albania calls for larger air strikes against the Serbs
Albanian President Sali Berisha called for larger air strikes against Bosnian Serb targets to force the Serb leaders to accept the latest peace plan.
“The President believes that heavier air strikes by NATO, not merely on a small scale, would persuade the Bosnian Serbs more quickly to accept the peace plan proposed by the Contact Group in Geneva,”

said a spokesman for the president.
On Friday, NATO aircraft attacked Bosnian Serb forces near Sarajevo after they took back the heavy weapons that had previously been placed under UN control.
Berisha also called on the government in Belgrade to allow the international community to monitor the closure of its borders with Bosnian Serb territory and its economic embargo against the Bosnian Serbs.
“International observers monitoring the border closure must show that the former Yugoslavia is truly serious about this and make its decision transparent, convincing and positive,” Berisha said.
Relations between Albania and the former Yugoslavia have traditionally been strained because of Belgrade’s treatment of the 2 million members of the ethnic Albanian minority in the southern province of Kosovo.
