A. Samaras: "The time has come for Greece to take strict measures against Berisha's government"
On Tuesday, Mr. Van Der Stul, representative of the Human Rights Commission in the European Community, arrives in Tirana
The tension between Greece and Albania is being felt among the people as well. The measures the Greek government has taken against Albanian emigrants are becoming harsher every day. The time has come for Greece to take measures against Berisha, declared the chairman of the Greek Socialist Party, Evangelos Venizelos.
From the morning of yesterday until evening, 10 buses passed through the Kakavijë customs post with 500 Albanians. After being gathered in Thessaloniki, they were transferred by Greek police boats? After they were gathered at the Kakavijë border in line with the police order, four more buses with Albanians are expected to return today as well. All these citizens say they have been mistreated by the police, who beat them and stole their personal belongings. Also, many people, according to them, were left on the road without any help.
From sources within the Greek border police, it is reported that 27 buses full of clandestine migrants were mistreated within one day while trying to enter Albanian territory. A similar wave is also expected to continue today. Another 500 people are expected to arrive on Albanian soil. All these actions are being carried out as part of the expulsion of illegal Albanians by the Greek state.
Meanwhile today representatives from the UN and the European Community Commission for Human Rights will hold meetings with figures from the Albanian government. The purpose of their talks is a kind of investigation into the treatment being given to Albanian emigrants in Greece.
