Melo attacks the left: The Socialists cannot protect the minority as PBDNJ does
“The PS is splitting the minority”
Pëllumbi: We do not want to take anyone’s votes
“PS is also carrying out a kind of propaganda, saying that they will better defend the rights of the Greek minority than we will,” says Melo, who with this statement throws down the gauntlet to the PS. “I have not made any such statement,” Pëllumbi shifts responsibility away from himself. As for the other PS leaders, this would indeed be a questionable statement, and so far it has not been published. “Never have Socialist deputies, including those from the minority, stood up in defense of minority rights,” Melo boldly declares.

Last night - Assassination in Israel
Prime Minister Rabin shot dead with a pistol
The Israeli prime minister Jitzhak Rabin died last night in Tel Aviv, after an assassination carried out during the “Peace Now” rally, attended by more than 100,000 people. Rabin was hit by three pistol shots fired by a 27-year-old student, a member of an Israeli extremist group. Immediately after the assassination, the prime minister was taken to hospital, but the doctors’ intervention could not save him. Rabin died an hour later from the severe wounds. Meanwhile, the attacker is said to have been captured by police forces. At the moment, the group to which he belonged immediately claimed responsibility for the assassination. This group opposes the agreement reached between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, signed in Washington in September 1993 between Prime Minister Rabin and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, in the presence of US President Bill Clinton, for the establishment of peace in the Middle East. After this assassination, Foreign Minister Shimon Peres assumed all the powers of the prime minister. It is also reported that after this tragic event, PLO chairman Yasser Arafat condemned the assassination and expressed his condolences to the Israeli people. Bill Clinton also strongly condemned last night’s criminal act and stated that the peace process will continue.

Anton Çeta died in Kosovo
The day before yesterday in the evening, at the age of 75, the writer, collector and renowned scholar of Albanian folklore, Anton Çeta, died. But more than that, Anton became known as the great leader of the campaign against fratricide and for the reconciliation of blood feuds and disputes among Albanians in Kosovo and other areas where Albanians live. For this he was also called the Wise Elder. He was a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prishtina. Yesterday the people of Kosovo and of all other Albanian lands paid tribute in honor of A. Çeta’s figure.
