Berisha: Officials must declare their wealth
Hooray! Corrupt?!
PD will not change the 4 percent threshold for entering Parliament
PD will immediately after New Year's declare the assets of MPs and officials, President Berisha promised at yesterday's press conference. “The PD has decided that not only future candidates, but also those who are currently in office, as well as government officials and civil servants, will declare all their assets,” he said, asking government officials and the PS to declare their assets immediately after New Year. Although the law on checking the assets of deputies and officials was passed some time ago, nothing has been done so far. It seems that the approach of election day makes the declaration and verification of assets essential, in order for the ruling party to escape, at least to some extent, the opposition's frequent accusations of corruption.

119 dead from the river's flood
Yesterday, major floods in South Africa
Heavy rainfall has flooded South Africa in recent days, causing major human and material damage. Reuters reports that from yesterday's floods at least 119 people have died, while many remain missing. The province hardest hit by the floods was KwaZulu-Natal. Rescue teams, helicopters, police and civil defense forces have been searching for the missing people. The Umsunduzi River burst its banks, sweeping away houses and everything nearby. The spokesperson for the rescue teams says the number of victims will be higher, but they are waiting until the river water level drops to find them. Family members of the missing continue searching for their relatives along the river banks. Most of the victims are young people. According to local elderly residents, such a tragedy has not been seen in the last 30 years. Some families have as many as 10 missing members, whose bodies have been found in bushes along the riverbank.
