Ajax–Milan 1–0

Last night in Vienna: 19-year-old Kluivert brings the trophy back to Holland Kluivert and Overmars during an attack in last night’s match REUTERS Last Wednesday evening undoubtedly marked one of the greatest high points in Dutch football. In a dramatic moment in the 84th minute of the 40th European Cup final, 19-year-old Patrik Kluivert, after a clever move inside Milan’s penalty area, scored the only goal of the match, which had seemed to be heading along its predicted course and into extra time. Milan played better in the first half and even controlled the game more ... Panuci and Simone. But football is not just one half of a game. In the second half it was Ajax, a team made up entirely of young players, that dominated the experience of the Italian side. For Italian teams this was the 16th final, and they now have an even record: 8 finals won and 8 lost. The Dutch, meanwhile, have been more successful. This was their seventh final, of which they have won 6 and lost 1. Ajax not only became European champions this season, but also beat Milan three times in this European Cup campaign—twice in the group stage and once when it mattered most, in the final! Ajax last won the cup on 30 May 1973, and ironically its opponent in the final was an Italian team, Juventus, whom it beat in Belgrade with a goal in the fourth minute. This was Ajax’s fifth final, and it has emerged victorious in all five. One of the greatest figures in Dutch football and one of the ... For Ajax this season, Frank Rijkaard officially bids farewell to football after this final. He is one of the best players in the world, and a European player of great value. This glorious farewell for the great European footballer ... and the greatest European trophy of the year now belongs, most deservedly, to Ajax’s young footballers. Their extraordinary achievement is undoubtedly also due to their coach, Van Gaal. ADRIATIK DOSTI.

“ZP” chief accountant at the Prosecutor’s Office

The case of “ZP”’s 400,000 dollars The investigation into the 400,000 dollars belonging to the central socialist organ “ZP” is continuing without interruption. This week appears to be devoted to the financial investigation of the case. A day after the PS’s chief economist was summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office, it was the turn of the chief accountant of the newspaper belonging to the party’s central organization. Yesterday, at around 1:00 p.m., Ms. Drita Sheshi was due to appear at the offices of the General Prosecutor’s Office. Sheshi was the first, together with the former editor-in-chief of “ZP”, Mr. Përparim Xhixha, who about two months ago began setting nine other people on the long road of investigation into this case. In this way, after PS deputy chairman Mr. Namik Dokle, Ms. Sheshi is the second name on the list of people investigated in this case. For about an hour at midday, she had to answer the investigators’ questions in the presence of Deputy General Prosecutor Mr. Fatos Dervishi. Given the position she holds, yesterday’s investigation focused on clarifying a number of financial transactions. After the investigation, accompanied by her lawyers, Mr. Bujar Sheshi and Mark Pellumbi, she left for her home, where the measure of personal bail was also carried out. A.P.
