Briefs – Italy An Albanian judge living illegally in Italy –He had gone “to buy his wife a washing machine” The desire to give his wife a washing machine prompted the Albanian judge Gjergj Margjoni (the name recorded by the Italian police), a 40-year-old employee at a court about 50 km from Tirana, to arrive as an undocumented migrant aboard the fishing boat A. Proci, which departed from Durrës on 20 July together with 27 other compatriots. At the port of Bari, the fishing boat was inspected by a patrol boat belonging to the financial police, which had been assigned anti-smuggling duties. Victim of gang warfare over control of prostitution Arjan Laçi, a 26-year-old Albanian emigrant, was found dead inside his car, which had “crashed into a tree” in one of the suburbs of the northern Italian city of Brescia.
