Sharp polemics between the President and the opposition parties. Berisha has called these political forces a “red front,” thus provoking their immediate reaction. But Berisha’s attack has by no means left the leaders of these parties indifferent, and they have not hesitated to level serious accusations against the President himself. The strong polemics between the Presidency and the headquarters of the opposition parties were sparked by the latter’s position on the election law. Most political forces have declared themselves “against” the law proposed by the DP and recently approved by Parliament.

Most residents of the capital do not trust the justice system
Only 8% of respondents believe in the Meksi government. This is what emerges from the survey conducted by the Association for Democratic Culture. The survey was carried out in the city of Tirana during December. One thousand questionnaires were distributed; they were filled in by anonymous people and posted to the association’s offices. More than 500 questionnaires were returned to the association, and after the data were processed, many figures emerged. The section of the questionnaire concerning the courts and the justice system is troubling.

Now the North and the South will be closer. At the beginning of this year, the ambitious project to build the country’s second highway got under way on Albanian roads; it will connect the two ends of the country before the end of this millennium. The project, fully financed by the World Bank, began implementation at the end of January this year and will create the southern axis Kakavije–Hani i Hotit.
