The four arrested men: We want to create the Communist Party
Yesterday the measure was set for the organizers. Sensational testimony in court
"We had already prepared the application for legalization at the Ministry of Justice"
"Yes, we wanted to create the Albanian Communist Party together, but reformed with a Western spirit, in whose program there would be no seizure of power by force or the Dictatorship of the Proletariat." This was the sensational testimony of the four detainees yesterday in the Court of First Instance in the capital during the hearing for their arrest. Outlawed in mid-1992 by the Parliament of that legislature, communist ideology, with a 55-year history, showed yesterday that it has existed and apparently will live on for some time yet in our country. The seizure of an arsenal of propaganda materials of Marxist ideology and philosophy, the statute of the party that was about to be created, and the list of the militants’ names, among which 20-year-olds stand out, shows this best. Yesterday at midday the Tirana Court ordered the arrest of 4 communist leaders.

Israel, 31 dead and over 140 injured in two days
TEL AVIV - A Muslim suicide bomber killed 12 people last night and injured more than 120 others, among them many children, outside a large supermarket in the center of Tel Aviv.
An anonymous phone call informed Radio Israel that responsibility for the attack was being claimed by the fundamentalist terrorist organization Hamas. This is the second attack in two days in Israel, when, 24 hours earlier, another suicide bomber caused the death of 19 people and injured ten others in the holy city of Jerusalem. Minister Shimon Peres’s reaction was immediate: he declared war on Hamas "wherever it may be", which analysts also interpret as an abrogation of the Peace Agreement signed in 1993, and the return inside Israel of the three territories taken from the autonomous Palestinians. Meanwhile, sources close to the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization, according to Reuters, stated that this decision does nothing but increase tension.
The incident occurred while people were withdrawing money at the automated bank machine. While Israel had been on alert for days over car bombs, this time the suicide bomber acted alone in the street, near the Dizengoff Center. According to police officer Gabi Last: "The killer came to the intersection of two streets and stood among the crowd of people, where he detonated his body strapped with explosives.
"We will go to every street where this terrorist element is located," Peres emphasized in a statement after a brief government meeting. Meanwhile, hundreds of Israelis were demanding his resignation from the post of prime minister. Although he called on his people not to lose faith, the latest deadly bomb has determined the defeat of his party in the elections of 29 May, in addition to nearly extinguishing all hopes for the success of the Peace process.
