“We demand the immediate release of the free journalist Ylli Polovina.” This is the title of the petition signed by 120 Albanian journalists as of last night and addressed to the heads of state, parliament and the prosecution of the Republic. After setting out the paths followed up to this trial for Polovina’s arrest, the petition, which is expected to expand the list of signatories, states that “whether from the content of the imprisoned journalist’s article, or from a comparison with the criminal act of which he is accused for inciting terrorist acts, it emerges that the accusation against him is completely groundless, fabricated and without logical basis.”

A young Albanian hangs himself in front of the church
ROME- Yesterday at 09:35 in the morning, the body of an Albanian refugee was discovered in the Italian capital. After police identification, it was learned that the unfortunate man was Gëzim Sulaj, 26, who, in moments of intense despair, had hanged himself in front of the church of Santa Maria del Carmine e San Giuseppe in Rome. According to police sources, the young Sulaj had entered Italy clandestinely in order to escape Albanian justice, as he was being prosecuted. Hoping that in Italy he could put an end to his past and start a new life, he undertook the risky adventure of clandestine crossing. But apparently, in the “promised land” he did not find what he had expected and, in despair and seeing no clear future, he decided to hang himself in front of the church using a cord hung from a tall pipe. Thus he ended his hopeless life without managing to see a future either in his own land or in the land where he was a refugee.
