“Good morning America”, the morning greeting, should come almost as a counterweight, to answer a homonymous expression rewritten with the same italic emphasis. This is happening with the departure of thirteen American lecturers from the University of Tirana, on the grounds that the Albanian authorities have rejected all the arrangements, let us say, of their compromise with the United States and its policy. In this sense, “Good USA” with ten tears”. In this sense, “Good Morning America” is perhaps the only expression of the United States in Vietnam; there is no longer any place for it in Albania.
In the end, several USA lecturers and passport holders have been forced to leave the Albanian faculties. They are doing their work, although they have been told they are not wanted. They have been able to carry on teaching for some time, until the interruption of knowledge, but with no hope; for all these reasons it is thought that things are changing against the American lecturers and the assistance they provide. American lecturers may not be among the first to leave, but their departure is nevertheless a symbolic fact.
According to sources who spoke to the newspaper, the departures are taking place at a rapid pace. Examples are given from the University of Tirana, where some foreign lecturers have not been allowed to continue working. This has been linked to political tension and to the stance of the Albanian authorities following international pressure for new elections.
