The largest Albanian company, "Vefa Holding", announced yesterday the blocking of the lenders’ principal capital for a period of three to six months. All interest rates are being flattened to the figure five, and this is being done, as stated in the spokesman’s announcement for Vefa, “to enable the continuity of the company’s investments.” According to the announcement, it was “the creditors, managers and well-wishers of the company” who suggested this solution. In this way, if everything goes according to the latest statement, Albanians will get back the money invested in the country’s largest company no earlier than 23 April. Vefa’s several-month suspension raises many questions in the Albanian public opinion. The blocking by the superboss’s bank has apparently shaken his finances.
