Last night, from the state against the journalist
Two hundred heavily armed forces. In Tirana and in all the cities there is a barbarism comparable to anti-Semitic slurs throughout the propaganda used by the police special forces and SHIK. The will and revolt of the Albanians has risen to a degree directly proportional to the barbarity and violence.
The history of police violence has entered a new phase after the handcuffing and deprivation of liberty. In the police, names ranging from the most diverse opposition leaders were found. In the cells of the Tirana Police Directorate, opposition leaders and their deputies have been held until the late hours. This happened only in totalitarian regimes.
Attention is now focused on the KJ journalist, F. Ylli, who is under arrest on an unbelievable pretext. Finally, amid all the unrestrained propaganda from the government last night, Albanian citizens are becoming increasingly aware that the syndrome of electoral manipulation is trying to cover up a criminalized power. Journalists are being made unable to move and film. Yesterday’s history is repeating itself painfully.
The blockade by hundreds of heavily armed forces at the road intersections in Tirana and their blows against protesters have caused panic and outrage.

KOHA JONË
Protect the journalist from the state
All, above all the staff and journalists of “Koha Jonë”, address this appeal and position with deep regret: forgive anyone who slanders and invents lies, but not those who denounce the public truth. The story of police violence is already well known. Yesterday at 2:00 p.m., F. Ylli, editor of “Koha Jonë”, was forcibly detained in one of the alleys near the Democratic Party, while carrying out his duties as a journalist. He was dragged along the ground and put into a car without license plates, where two civilians were present. He was then taken to the police station, where he was held for hours without any explanation and without any charge. This is a clear sign that the state is acting against free speech.
Journalists are being prevented from reporting, taking photos and filming. Cameras are being taken by force, film is being ruined, and movement is being blocked. This is a climate of terror against the independent media. We call on all domestic and international organizations to react immediately. Silence means complicity.
Koha Jonë
Brutally beaten, by armed civilians, journalists from the country and abroad
Not one, but many brave men with weapons, helmets and rubber truncheons brutally attacked several of the journalists from the newspaper “Koha Jonë” and RTV, as well as many foreign journalists. As soon as the demonstration ended, which according to sources was dispersed using tear gas and with ferocity, groups of armed civilians threw themselves on cameramen, photographers and reporters.
Among those beaten was the reporter of the Italian agency “ANSA”, photographers from “Reuters” and Albanian journalists. The cameras were broken, tapes were snatched away and many of the injured were unable to document the event. Witnesses stated that the aggressors were acting in an organized manner and under police protection.
In this unusual climate of violence, foreign journalists expressed shock at what they saw in Tirana. A reporter from an Italian private television station said he had never encountered such direct hatred toward the media. This is a serious warning for press freedom.
