PD, what Leka is needed for: the second the truth
Today the Democrats are holding a special meeting of the National Council. This is the first meeting of this kind with the publicly announced slogan “everyone against everyone”; in recent days, major movements have been noted within the Berisha camp itself, from the delegations in Nushka with the active involvement of Vlora and the general administration of order in the political campaign and the other party responsibilities, a post that also seriously compromised the circle itself, turning it into a failed “decoration”.
For many Democrats this is the peak of the reaction to the strengthening of the “volume” while those opposed by the opposition and the right-wing have their own demands. The 16 requests that emerged as winners a few days earlier were handed to the leadership, or sent to the Union of Albanians, and have become part of the three “rebellion” components.
It is a serious political signal and, for figures who are steering personalities toward an approach, it seems there will be a clash at today’s meeting.
The victory of 22 March 1992 gave the PD the opportunity to seize all institutions in an unusual way. Thanks to the implementation of its economic program and with national support, the parliament became completely submissive, with the monarchy and the parliament attaining success. Meanwhile, from the people’s assembly and parliament, every political position and alignment.
The March 1996 government decided to dismiss the 26 Democratic deputies and dissidents. They grew with May and the end of the PD in the next broad protests. This was the southern uprising and the breaking of government authority. In the end it was understood that only one thing could stop the explosion: a moral execution of the main person responsible for the collapse, that is, the removal of Berisha and his government.
It has been perfectly clear that around this issue, the struggle of democracy with Albania against communism was a victory for their rule. The first is far from being such, with the result that the truth cannot lie in condemnations, since it has again fallen into familiar views for ordinary Albanians. Today they are involved in the debate over responsibility, while sincerity is lacking to the end.
We write this issue without equivocation. There is no more time for evasion. Words or formulas have no value without conduct, down to the end of them. Today in the PD what should have happened long ago is happening: a brutal examination of the policy and of the leader who gave it life until its complete collapse.
