Government or VEFA?
Events of recent days, in which the largest Albanian rent-seeking company “VEFA” has been the main actor, are giving rise to the impression that the transparency of the pyramid schemes is an opportunity to attack the new government.
Regarding the issue of the bans by the new government. Relevant international institutions have issued very critical statements. The IMF considers that the latest moves in the field of state intervention in the economy are harmful at this stage of the reform. Indeed, this [!] sees the transparency of the withdrawal as a deliberate act so as not to solve this problem. Meanwhile Mr. [?[?]] on the idea of banning VEFA has quietly warned that such special exemptions could lead to a rise in opposition. However, bearing in mind that at this moment the investigations have taken on a large number of dimensions, which are still being clarified slowly, the priority remains the need to create a broad framework and to accept the lawful decision. According to official sources in the government, at this time all citizens have been promised greater influence in economic life. Some parliamentary officials have understood the importance of solving this problem and, by voting for this law, would also set the process of launching and publishing pardons and arguments for [f?] a new spirit.
Furthermore, if the whole of the left-wing coalition also [the matter of] such focused exceptions to specific ethics [pakyshatë]. In particular, if this were to become a clear sign in order to argue for their exemption.
On this occasion, a personality with great business capacity, known as one of the most distinguished figures in the private sector in Albania, has described the government’s decision as correct. Moreover, [?[?]] when asked said that it is very important that other companies in this field be investigated too, and not only “VEFA”.
After the uproar over “VEFA”’s direct opposition to the government, Prime Minister [?[?]] stressed that the process should not be stamped with a seal, because the country must move along the path of reforms. Apparently this appeal for stability was also made in the interest of preserving calm and avoiding panic.
Since taking office, the new executive has demanded full transparency for all this activity and that no distinctions be made. This is one of the reasons for the very broad use of the term “VEFA” at a time when there were also other entities on the market.
Nevertheless, the “circle” linked to the memories has now come onto the scene with a firm cut. Revisiting this issue clearly shows that some points are still missing even now, but the process is moving.
[?[?]] together with the government. This is not for ideological reasons.
