War in Gjirokastër

The PD supports the act carried out by the residents of Lazarat page 2 Hostage politics BY VANGJESH LEOVANI The greater part of the popular masses, here in Albania too, are wandering around the districts and villages. Poor and without any means, young people decide to leave under Nano. The parents have gone too, because in the end you have placed Nano there yourself. A large part of Albanians left the country to go to Greece and Italy by boat, convulsively political. And the government itself admits that some 900 thousand people have “emigrated.” This speaks of the Albanian tragedy, with young people as soldiers to take Nano’s place. Ironically, in the situation created in our country by the uprising in Lazarat and Delvinë, the government, with deliberate intent, highlights the story of a series of fines by the police, on a terrorist scale. If the government sees the country as a hostage and itself as its owner, it is pushing institutions toward conflict with citizens. Such a protest by the residents of Lazarat, instead of being resolved through the state and dialogue, is being handled through the force of pressure. Through a hostage policy, citizens are kept under pressure and used as an argument in the struggle for power. This is a dangerous form that fuels division and takes away hope.
