Why did he boycott them

BY TIRANA KOKONA Boycott is a striking phenomenon in the life of a people; since it is not too much part of our tradition and we are not indifferent or dismissive toward a new and influential phenomenon, we must strive to use the most accurate and appropriate terms so that they are valued not merely as words that are spoken but as expressions that convey the deep meaning of a process and an event. Disregard and contempt are more than boycott, because they involve a contemptuous and devaluing attitude toward the other. Thus the word boycott, in its literal sense, is closer to coldness. In its social value, boycott is an act of refusing relations with the other and especially in the field of ideas and knowledge. Why did the writer boycott them? Or why is one boycotted politically? In both cases, it is a deliberate stance with social consequences. Editors-in-chief, publishers, publications and intellectual circles have begun to use this term with a dismissiveness that stems from their ideological unpreparedness and narrow tastes. Society, which is tasked with judging the work and not blocking its circulation, cannot confuse boycott with criticism. This is the essence of a behavior that, even when presented as principled, hides political or personal motives. The writer, publisher, journalist, politician — each in his own field — is faced with the right to be present in public debate. To deny this means to renounce the freedom of thought itself. In a climate where words are often used to replace action, boycott becomes a sign of fear of argument. It is not simply a lack of participation, but an attempt not to allow the other side to be heard. This is precisely where the responsibility of public opinion and of the institutions that must defend the free space of thought begins. Page [?]

Literature changes you, including excessive drinking

For themselves: DITERO AGOLLI Once a day with love I am a little dirtier than everything else For themselves: DITERO AGOLLI Literature changes you, including excessive drinking Once a day with love I am a little dirtier than everything else I am among those with a great preference for everyday life and for truth. People nowadays tend to age with the joy of age, and after that I have often felt sadness, wondering what a great struggle it is. Life is brief, the moon is a place and the hungry resurrection. But above all, a person must decide in his or her mind what he or she wants from life. There are people who say that true love with a woman comes only once in a lifetime. Perhaps that is true for romantics, but I have never seen it that way. And yet, without love, literature would have no meaning. Page 8
