Nano out of the game

Yesterday's meeting between Italian Prime Minister D'Alema and the opposition leader was not simply a meeting to have a coffee with Berisha, but a way to communicate and to meet under the echo of what will follow for Albania's future. It looked more like a meeting in which the two actors, Berisha and Nano, and the place they want to play their roles on the Albanian political scene were at stake. Berisha has stated that bargaining is being done with the majority, especially in recent events, speaking in D'Alema's name-Berisha will be the guarantor of the stability and democratization of Albanian governance, while Nano is being used as an obstacle and an opponent to eliminate his political figure. In a heated meeting with his allies, before meeting D'Alema, Berisha said that “I have explained once again that Berisha does not make peace with Nano,” and also accused Berisha of being used as a card for an agreement with the Socialist Party or as another key to an entry without being included by one side of politics. Nano appears to have been drawn into the game, as a representative of Moisiu's group, and did not play his game to the end, becoming an opponent of Berisha. In this approach it became clear that his position and strong rhetoric in relation to recent politics were not accidental. In a heated meeting with his allies, he stated that if he accepted to enter another formula, he would also put forward a series of arguments for it. “We do not know what formula is being sought to be imposed on us,” Berisha said, arguing that “they are making such a scenario for us as well.” On the other hand, he accused certain circles that “bargaining is being done with the majority,” especially in recent events, where even his opponents were pushing it. He stated that “without consultation with our group and without a clear solution, no formula can be accepted.” But he did not avoid strong positions on Prime Minister Majko-Berisha will be the guarantor of the stability and democratization of Albanian governance, while Nano is being used as an obstacle and an opponent to eliminate his figure. He said that “we will not accept an agreement that bypasses the real opposition and replaces it with artificial schemes.”
