The Burrel team on hunger strike Ready to sacrifice themselves for the sake of football. The Burrel football team has gone on hunger strike. The news comes from this town, setting an Albanian record for these strikes, which have become fashionable since the 1990s. At the Burrel Sports Palace, the footballers from Mat have decided to make the ultimate self-sacrifice as well. The reason is that the football team from this town has continuously protested a decision by the Disciplinary Commission of the FSF, which, for the irresponsibility surrounding the final match of the first phase, Burrel-Tirana, has banned the Mat pitch for four weeks. After requesting that this measure be eased and issuing repeated ultimatums, today at 17:00, 17 footballers and the team’s two coaches went on hunger strike in a space measuring only 4x4 at the town’s Sports Palace. Among other things, such an action puts Sunday’s Burrel-Flamurtari match in doubt; it is scheduled to be played in Durrës.
