It is not the time for rallies
Millions of the careless, with the risk of being led by the wrong miserable people to preserve Milošević’s Kosovo
[?]
A careless minister, with the risk of leading the miserable in the wrong direction to keep the Serbs in Kosovo, but we must not lose our heads over such moves. A group of journalists, not only in this case, but also because of an offense that deeply shakes Albanian journalism, has made a fuss over an article titled “It is not the time for rallies,” published in the daily “Koha Jonë” and signed by me. Sent first to Albania by fax from a friend in Pristina and addressed to several Albanian editors, since publication of that article was being denied, a group of newspapers treated it as a kind of collective “right to know.”
Later, sometime on Tuesday, my article was published on the last page about Yugoslavia, and on Thursday morning in the Kosovar daily in New York, “Bota Sot.” This may be the final attempt to clarify once again what I mean by the article, but also in response to colleagues who strip my writing of its humility and decree it “mistakes.” I will not sell all the dividends that come from the circumstances in order to become unnecessarily central, but the case itself raises the problem of making deals with guilt. I called it not a strategic decoding, but a kind of public conditioning to overcome the problem of defeat. Who does it serve to say thoughtlessly that this or that is leaving? But where to? And from where are the Albanian bombings supposedly being launched? Does the people of Kosovo want parliament or government? Why should we be divided into “us” and “them” at a time when we need everyone against a common aggression?
It is not the time for rallies, because such language prepares part of public opinion for a political settling of accounts after the war. At a time when everyone should be focused on national survival, rallies create the illusion of normality and of an internal competition. That is why the media must show maturity, not become a megaphone for daily grudges.
In the end, the Kosovo issue belongs to no one and is not solved with loud calls in the squares, but with wisdom, determination and historical responsibility.
The Turkish firm “BE-HA-SE” cheats with Albania’s money
Why does the Rrogozhinë-Elbasan road not continue?
For several months, the road contractor from the Turkish firm “BE-HA-SE” Co., which won the tender for the widening of the Rrogozhinë-Elbasan road in the Tirana region, has not been taking measures regarding local firms, even favoring certain nearby private companies. Some voices say the decision was made at the end of January this year, initially drawing several million into its own coffers. It was this decision that caused the total delay, among many of the recent facts of the suspension of the works and the arrival of machinery. But the highly suspicious prime minister and the scandals surrounding this project will have to bear all the responsibility [?].
NATO decision that its policy 500 first to Albania.
