American support, a misunderstanding of other ministers
American support,
a misunderstanding for other ministers
The U.S. ambassador in Tirana was once again made the target of the newspaper and of the aims of a party secretary. At least, that is something we cannot support. His representatives, in their interpretation, represent only the reasons of American political thinking and not the official positions of Washington. Prime Minister Majko, from the point of view of the U.S. administration, has as his primary starting point support for the government’s efforts. There is no formula for Albania other than to make it as effective as possible. The prime minister is included in that same support, as is his cabinet. As for Majko and his team, there has never been any intention to carry out any kind of cabinet rotation or to remove any minister. This was not said by the United States, nor by the American embassy. It was fabricated by a party secretary to support an internal game and for specific political purposes. The spokespeople of the American embassy have denied such a thing. The matter was discussed with government and cabinet institutions in order to correct the misinterpretation. In Albanian political language, the name of the United States cannot be used to solve the internal problems of parties or of the government. The government itself has made it clear that it will pursue the path of reforms in Albania and not the game of names or ministries. But it seems that the influence of a party office has been so strong that it has managed to confuse even parts of the media. This is unacceptable. If Majko needs such a thing to raise his authority, he should speak for himself and not hide behind the name of the USA. While Albanians want clarity, not the speculations of a secret office.
