The Prosecutor's Office, deceitfully, against Ilir Meta

By Enon Abilekaj In general speeches and at cabinet meetings, in press conferences, in reaction to the deadline set by the leadership, or in the media, the government and the prime minister have been on the offensive against the Prosecutor's Office. The accusations and counterattacks over the issue of the government's vote of confidence have become an open challenge between the Prosecutor's Office and the executive, especially after several statements directed at the government and the prime minister. However, a certain tone of conflict has also intensified within the government, with some ministers insisting on continuing the fight with the prosecuting body. Sali Berisha stressed yesterday for the first time that Meta's activities were being investigated. He was formulating an accusation by referring to the lawsuit filed against the prime minister by the Prosecutor's Office. Threats of accusations against the prime minister and the head of government, as well as against the Prosecutor's Office, have increased after statements were made against the heads of the prosecution. On the tour he made in the Lezha district, Prime Minister Meta also made a statement calling for reducing pressure on the Prosecutor's Office. He did not call it a conflict between the government and the Prosecutor's Office, but one between politicians, since once again the opposition leader has gone to Tirana. Clarifications for the prime minister from the General Prosecutor's Office were given last night by the director of public relations. And although he was being questioned by presenters on private television stations, the Prosecutor's Office representatives did not say more than they had already done. They confirmed the investigation, explaining that it has not yet been decided whether the prime minister will be questioned as a citizen or as a politician. According to them, the public relations director, Mr. Mustafaj, clarified that the office has preliminary investigations into the offense of abuse of office involving a group of high-ranking state officials. And since the discussion mainly concerned Meta's statement at the press conference, they explained that the Prosecutor's Office is carrying out procedural actions within the framework of a criminal complaint filed by Mr. Berisha on this issue. According to them, the complaint is against a group of high-ranking state officials, but it is made up of specific names.
