Majko supporters split, fears of manipulation at the Congress

Majko remains without allies

There is no clear indication that the forces which first made the party chairman also take a place in government alongside Fatos Nano and Majko will be inclined toward sharp attacks among themselves. Be that as it may, it has now been more than four months and the positions of the reform groups have changed strikingly in a much tenser political atmosphere. Some followers of Ilir Meta and those close to Fatos Nano, in relation to Majko, seem to increasingly narrow what they had in common until yesterday: the aim of removing him definitively from the leadership of the PS. This change is clearly visible if we refer to the public words, stances and actions of several people close to Ilir Meta, Fatos Nano and others who, on one side and the other, are tied to the PS presidency. When they arrived among the “guaranteed allies” who offer more of a smile than a handshake, it can be said that they have made it clear to the government that the path of reform is unthinkable without allies in the PS for a long time. In the wave of public commentary it has been repeated several times that the group that would strongly attack the political reforming of Majko’s government would be accompanied by people of this category, who favor direct confrontation against the reforming current and those close to the PDSH. In this sense, the developments of these days until a few days before the Congress are understandable. However, this does not mean that the reforming camp will not find broad support in the socialist base and among the majority of ordinary militants, just as they have also managed to find support in the party’s higher forums. What constitutes an unexpected change in the balance of forces within the socialist left is the entry into the debate of other figures besides Majko and Nano, and here one must also consider a series of actors within the government, mostly of that category who also appear today in public debate and are presented as among the most serious candidates for the post of chairman of the Socialist Party. Still, in today’s calculations, in order to be declared winners, before any other claimant, at least for a short period, the reformist group would have to give Nano the leadership of the party. This is considered a convincing formula that would put an end to the harsh debate with Fatos Nano, taking into account all the developments so far in the camp of the left. Such calculations would be more acceptable if Nano were given the second place in the group and if he gave up fully restoring his control. The news of these days has been precisely that the group of people defending Majko’s position has remained almost without allies. Most of the people who a few months ago belonged to this camp have, in recent days, positioned themselves alongside Nano and Meta, suggesting that victory is no longer as certain as it was a few weeks ago. All this makes it entirely understandable why in favor of Prime Minister Majko, other public and political figures of such weight as Alfred Moisiu have recently appeared. Thus Majko’s involvement, sometimes in the role of candidate, sometimes as defender of his own government, has made it clear that not everything is over yet.

Radio “Koha” poll: Nano wins by a landslide

Lulzim, I sincerely hope that the Paris team, as you may understand, settles on the partner of the majority while conferences are still dragging on, and remarks and responsibilities regarding reforms are still being examined broadly. What clearly emerges from the outcome of this conference, as well as the first review of reforms in the electorate and conferences, is 20 hours for voter registration and that this will make possible and minimize all transfers of the electorate that may circulate and be broadcast live. As often happens, also in the district 24 hours for the registration of the electorate and this will make possible and minimize all transfers of the electorate that may circulate and be broadcast live. These are the results of Radio “Koha”, a survey conducted by telephone, which gives the poll credibility. Fatos Nano 57% Pandeli Majko 25% Ilir Meta 9% Namik Dokle 6% Server Pëllumbi 3% These are the results of Radio “Koha”, a survey carried out by telephone. The analyses and comparisons made with other polls and in recent days show that this rise is in line with the public stances of PS leaders and militants and make it credible. It should also be taken into account that Mr. Alfred Moisiu was not included in the survey; this development is expected to be systematically reflected in the PS Congress. Since logically the winners are close to Moisiu and Meta, this is also considered in favor of chairman Majko. Thus Majko’s involvement, sometimes as a candidate, sometimes as defender of his own governance, has suggested that Nano’s victory will be very close.
