Pseudo-patriotic adventures threaten national interests

By Shaban Murati The signals coming from Kosovo contain a clear message, one that clashes with Albanian priorities and with the interests of NATO and the USA, as well as with the demoralization within the ranks of the central Albanian humanitarian military intervention, and also with Albanian national cases. The deviation of action in Albanian politics has gone far enough; it is channeling in the opposite direction hundreds of nationalist actions, through which the clear idea of deepening the correctness of Kosovo’s international position has largely been lost, as has the persistent pressure of the Albanian government. In such a case, it is clear that spontaneous nationalist actions harm the Albanian cause, which today must be preserved calmly by the entire Albanian state and social structure. Bujar Bukoshi has been chosen as a figure who is unfairly taking a place in a political debate, where elements encouraging an uncontrolled public current are seriously affecting the relations of Albanian politics with Western allies. It cannot be denied that at such a stage of the Kosovo issue, demonstrations and hasty statements can become a pretext for dangerous international interpretations. Today every measured and institutional stance is necessary so as not to damage Kosovo’s prospects and not to undermine relations with the international factors that support the freedom and rights of Albanians. That is why every pseudo-patriotic act should be seen as a harmful adventure for national interests. (Continues on page 3)
