By FERDINAND XHAFERRI Turkey, together with NATO and the condemnation of the feeling of submission, as a companion and consequence of militarization, should not be seen as if the desirability of Albanians in the eyes of European public opinion has value and importance. This can give strength and confidence, but not create submission. The USA and the EU, in order to build lasting stability in the region, have clearly stated that the realization of new relations, the small country, the opportunities of Albanians to be a factor of unity and communication for the region, and above all what makes us important is the insistence that we become part of the new Euro-Atlantic community. Secondly, in Albania it is required that strong support be taken into account and that the intensity of reforms increases. But it is necessary to underline that one-sided professional or political interests harm this process. In the interest of this process is the development of infrastructure and free markets. Based on the suggestions for decrees and the considerations embodied in what Greek embassy representatives imply, as well as local voices that present the processes as being directed against others, great caution is needed. Turkey and the Albanians seek to become important partners in the region. In these circumstances, no room should be left for accusations and distortions. It should be made public from the outset that Albanians seek good neighborly relations with Greece and with all the peoples of the region. Only through integration and stability do we build local government. Secondly, in Albania it is required that arbitrariness in action come to an end. Let the professionalism of the public administration and local institutions not remain unbowed. Only then will it be possible to take honest steps toward Europe. Page 15
