BY EDI LESI Berisha and Nano have squeezed their entire arsenal of insults at each other, to the point that yesterday at midday they even had to stroll through the world of Albanian fauna to pick up the epithet “pig,” and at the height of midday they pinned it on each other, in a piggish manner. Yesterday all Albanians had the chance, through the statements of Berisha and Nano, to understand what a calamity they had brought upon themselves by keeping, and continuing to keep to this day, two bad political leaders at the helm. We heard that the two political leaders’ vocabulary—that of Nano and Berisha—still has a taste for pigs, since the two began their duel with each other these days by using this animal, whose meat tastes far better than the politics produced by the two leaders. And when a pig gets between the chairmen of the two main political forces, one can imagine what kind of stew is being prepared for Albanians this coming summer. Berisha said, verbatim: “Eat and drink, you pigs in power, but I’ll sort you out when I come to power,” while the PS chairman hurried yesterday at midday to answer Berisha with “anti-pig institutions,” and went on to say: “Berisha, the pig roaming freely.” A simple fact. Muslims, who remain the majority of the population, have been offended and forced by the two leaders to “taste” pork on the main news programs of several private television stations. Thus, this coming summer, with election fever, Albanians are once again left to endure, as they have for the past 9 years, the piggish wheezing of the most prominent and hot-headed political figures. So, even now, while temperatures have not yet risen to epidemic levels, it would be wise for ordinary Albanian voters to equip themselves with anti-pig syringes; best of all would be to vote somewhat differently, casting not ballots but mischievous pig-shaped triangles at these politicians’ heads, so they stay as far away as possible from our families. Perhaps all the words above can be summed up more briefly: A pig’s work!
