Berisha: “Vlora is in my heart”

The PD leader gives an interview to “Koha Jonë”, definitively confirming the trip to the city of the 1997 revolts The PD’s plan to enter Vlora: 200 cars will depart from Tirana, 150 are waiting in Durrës, 100 in Kavajë, 200 ready in Fier and 100 from Vlora at the Mifol Bridge

Vlora, the final dilemma for Berisha

Since last night, discussions have continued in the government of the revolts, the PD’s “front line”. It sheds light on the fact that Vlora will be a test case as to the ability of former president Sali Berisha to challenge not only his opponents, but also the police, which has put a cross over the city most problematic and least liked by the PD leader. Enver Hoxha seemed to have found the “solution” to the Vlora problem by sealing off the country from the sea and declaring Vlora an “enemy”. Berisha, for his part, has another plan, more modern and closer to his old and beloved method: the triumphant march toward the “rebellious” city. To take Vlora, his emissaries are thinking not only of the revolts route, but also of another “plan”. Through the “crows”, which, as Berisha’s aides would indirectly say, will arrive by the hundreds of cars from Tirana and from all over Albania. In fact, according to those involved, 30 buses would also be added to this route. It is assumed that the socialists should allow them to pass through as a great gesture of understanding (!?) or through the failure of law-and-order structures. Between the Vlora scenario, including the Mifol Bridge, car checkpoints, and city entrances, with [?] Where does all this end? On Sunday at 10:00 a.m., the enthusiastic militants will gather in Tirana with hundreds of private cars, but also with hundreds of buses. Those dissatisfied with the state structures around Berisha, gathered after his calls. Even the former president, who by now is launching the “offensive”, seems to be moving very cautiously in order to preserve the image of the “historic leader” of an enraged crowd. Whether or not he has ordered the assault is hard to say, but in the end he has always known how to stay in the background, appearing only at the end. Most likely, Berisha will not be in Tirana, but in Fier, to command the operation from close up. All the more so because it will be necessary to be closer to Vlora. This is what his people say, who predict that not only 30, but perhaps even 60 buses may be on the move. While ruling with Vlad’s son, Fatos Klosi said in 1992, “when they hate, they know no measure,” and, ordering that hundreds of socialists will circulate in the streets of Vlora, ready to obstruct their march, of course “peaceful and democratic,” aiming to stop with calm and discipline the “uprising” from Tirana and all Albania. The Socialist Party has not yet raised the Mifol Bridge, but a bridge of stoppage between the two sides has already been raised. Berisha has taken care to feed it first. Those who fear the Vlora scenario are certainly many: all his opponents, but also moderate socialists, for whom everything must be done to stop the clash. No one can forget that a year ago, at least in his imagination, Berisha would have marched on Tirana during the spring celebrations of 1999, with hundreds of cars, to “take” the “usurped” capital. Just as now, at the head of the assault, with his envoys. What will happen this time in the “Vlora mission” no one can yet say with certainty. The scenario is still open. But it is hard to believe that hundreds of cars could enter and move calmly in Vlora. Vlora is full of angry people ready not to allow what happened last year, with PD militants arriving by bus in the city center. In fact, the line of using “force” to break through what the socialists themselves call “enemies” is becoming increasingly hard to swallow. Likewise, many understand that, as soon as they set off, opposition militants will face protests and road blockades, which will be unavoidable. In the midst of possible chaos, the city of Vlora becomes even more unpredictable. All eyes are on Sunday. page 2
